Pet Portraits for Smudge

We went and visited my coworker Matt today outside Rochester to get some shots of his cat Smudge. Smudge is a indoor cat who gets mild roaming privileges out on the deck, so I did my first ever outdoor cat shoot.

But first - counter-top glamour shot! This is with the trusty Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D all the way out at 200mm. Everybody who's anybody knows you need that POP of color, so the flowers were key.

This was horrendously overexposed with the 50mm at f/2 in direct sunlight, so that calls for black and white!

For this one I remembered to get that shutterspeed cranked up, so no cheap tricks here. To date, this is Bemont Photo's only outdoor cat photography, but I hope we get more!
