Visiting the Dziaks

We paid a visit to KJ and Pooja to see their fresh new baby Ravi. He was asleep when we arrived, so I was able to get a nice shot right away.

I default to the 50mm f/1.4D for close-up indoors shots of kids and pets. You get the great depth of field of a portrait lens but with more "three dimensionality", as the dorks say, then with the longer 85mm+ portrait lens you'd want for flattering adults. Babies and pets get roughly the same treatment at Bemont Photo.

While Ravi slept, I snuck off for a couple glamour shots of the cats... both wide open shots with the 50mm again.

When Ravi woke up, I broke out the big 80-200mm f/2.8D for a wide-open shot of Pooja feeding him. This lens is twenty years old, but still a classic.
